Case Study: Turbine and Generator Monitoring

Recently, Tiara conducted a temporary installation of two TWave Mobility Cases to monitor and analyze the turbodynamics of a turbine-generator after an overhaul at a geothermal plant.

The Challenge: The plant’s DCS detected an increase in overall vibration just one week after the overhaul. Using the TWave T8, Tiara confirmed that this increase in vibration was related to a change in the shaft centerline.

The Solution: The TWave T8 remained installed for another month, providing continuous, detailed analysis with its robust toolset: SCL, Orbits, Phase Diagrams, Full Spectrum, and more.

The Result: By tracking the shaft position and verifying that it remained within bearing clearance, the turbine continued to run smoothly, backed by the peace of mind of knowing that TWave T8 was monitoring its progress 24/7.
